Role Details
The Director of Collections and Research is responsible for directing and leading the teams managing the Museum’s collections, including human history, natural sciences, and documentary heritage. As Chief Curator, the incumbent is also responsible for leading and enabling influential research, collection development, collection care and the contribution that the collections make to the Museum’s public engagement plans and programs. This executive role combines strategic leadership with intellectual and academic capability both within the specific areas of responsibility and as a member of the Museum’s Executive.
Special Conditions
- The Incumbent will be required to participate in the department’s Performance Management Program.
- The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
- Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
- Some interstate travel involving overnight absences will be required.
- This role requires a working with children check.
- This role requires a National Criminal History check.
- Possess a discipline relevant tertiary qualification

Salary Range
$179,720 – $276,492 p.a.
