Summer 2025

What: The staff of the New York Botanical Garden’s William & Lynda Steere Herbarium will host two training workshops on herbarium management this summer. The workshops will provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to herbarium management and collections care. Topics covered will include curation, imaging and digitization, integrated pest management, record keeping, georeferencing, and more.

When: Two sessions will be offered (covering the same content):

  • June 10-12, 2025 (participants will travel to/from NYC on June 9 /13)
  • July 8-10, 2025 (participants will travel to/from NYC on July 7/11)

Who is it for: Students and early-career professionals interested in careers in natural history collections, and specifically working in and with herbaria.

What will it cost: Free! Participants’ travel costs will be covered by funding from the U.S. National Science Foundation. Please note that participants’ travel to/from NYC must originate and terminate within the U.S.
