Job Summary | The Auburn University Museum of Natural History (AUMNH) is seeking a creative, dynamic, and energetic administrator of its outreach and education programs. AUMNH is primarily a research museum that has a well-developed outreach program, a developing educational program (from pre-school to senior citizens), and a few limited exhibits. Examples of programs include tours, annual Open Houses, the semi-annual Bones and Boos Festival, the long-running Wehle Outdoor Education Program that gives students from historically excluded communities lessons in natural history, and a museum education course that students in the College of Education use to write lesson plans in Natural History. Essential Functions | Essential Functions include but are not limited to maintaining the current programs, working with the museum curators in the development of Broader Impact statements on grant proposals, and maintaining live animal collections. The successful candidate will join and collaborate with an outreach team that includes curators, collection managers, volunteers, and the College of Science and Mathematics Outreach Program. Minimum Skills and Abilities | Candidates must have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Candidates will need to be highly organized with the ability to coordinate a network of volunteers. Additionally, candidates should possess experience in event planning. Experience in managing social media accounts is a must. Candidates must be committed to building an inclusive and diverse community. |
